Overview
The Forex Client Relationship Consultant plays a critical role in identifying client needs, providing tailored foreign exchange and cross-border banking solutions, and supporting onboarding and servicing activities. The position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders to deliver outstanding client outcomes while ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
The Forex Client Relationship Consultant will be expected to:
- Build, grow, and manage foreign exchange and cross-border banking relationships with new and existing clients
- Identify client needs and provide specialist forex and transactional banking solutions
- Support client onboarding and servicing activities
- Partner with relevant internal client relationship roles to deliver sustainable revenue growth
- Ensure exceptional client experiences and regulatory compliance
- Acquire, retain, and grow client portfolios
- Deliver financial solutions aligned to client needs
- Work with internal stakeholders to deliver client outcomes
- Generate revenue through solution adoption and portfolio growth
- Manage client lifecycle and relationship management practices
- Maintain CRM systems, pipeline management, and portfolio reporting
Experience Required
Applicants must demonstrate substantial experience in the following areas:
- 5–8 years' experience in managing and developing client relationships within Commercial/Business Banking or Retail/Personal Banking
- Relationship management within foreign exchange, cross-border banking, transactional banking, or treasury-related environments
- Acquiring, retaining, and growing client portfolios
- Forex and cross-border banking solutioning, including identifying and delivering financial solutions aligned to client needs
- Working with internal stakeholders to deliver client outcomes
- Supporting client onboarding and service delivery processes
- Generating revenue through solution adoption and portfolio growth
Qualifications
The minimum qualification required for this position is:
- Regulatory Exam for Representatives (RE5)
The ideal or preferred qualification is:
- FAIS accredited as Key Individual and approved by FSCA
Knowledge and Competencies
Candidates should possess comprehensive knowledge in the following areas:
- Products and services related to Commercial/Business Banking or Retail/Personal Banking
- Client engagement and consultative selling
- Foreign exchange and cross-border banking solutions
- Cash management, deposits, and transactional banking products
- Client lifecycle and relationship management practices
- Client onboarding, KYC (Know Your Customer), and customer due diligence processes
- Exchange Control Regulations and South African Reserve Bank (SARB) requirements
- FAIS (Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act), AML (Anti-Money Laundering), and applicable banking regulatory frameworks including FAIS general code of conduct
- CRM systems, pipeline management, and portfolio reporting
- Current technologies, including AI tools, and their responsible application to optimise everyday tasks and outputs
