Overview
The Software Development Manager will manage technical teams responsible for product features, support, and maintenance tasks throughout the complete product lifecycle. The successful candidate will be expected to establish priorities, manage deliverables, and drive continuous improvement across all technical operations.
Key Responsibilities
The Software Development Manager will be accountable for the following duties:
- Provide strategic technical direction for multiple technical teams
- Manage the technical delivery of the full product lifecycle including all product features
- Oversee support and maintenance related tasks in respect of assigned products
- Drive ongoing initiatives to increase efficiency and optimization across technical environments
- Lead innovation efforts within technical teams
- Develop and mentor people within the technical teams
- Craft and maintain technical roadmaps aligned with business objectives
- Manage budgets and ensure cost-effective delivery
- Utilize technical skills to support and guide technical teams
- Establish priorities and successfully manage deliverables
- Engage with stakeholders using strong communication and relationship management skills
- Use leadership to influence outcomes in other areas of the organization
Minimum Requirements
Experience
Applicants must demonstrate:
- At least 5 years of experience in software development management
- Proven experience leading and working in an agile development environment
- Experience crafting roadmaps for technical projects and products
- Experience managing a budget
- Experience using technical skills to support and guide a technical team
- Experience establishing priorities and successfully managing deliverables
- Experience utilizing communication and relationship management skills to engage with stakeholders
- Experience using leadership to influence in other areas
Education
The minimum educational requirement is a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce or Information Technology with a specialization in Computer Science.
An Honours Degree in Commerce or Information Technology - Computer Science is preferred.
