Learnership Overview
The South Deep Gold Mine is offering aspiring employees and prospective applicants from within our Host Communities an opportunity to enter into a formal Engineering Learnership programme. This is a chance to bring your expertise to a dynamic and engaged team dedicated to becoming a beacon of pride for our communities and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Undergoing technical training as prescribed by MQA and required short courses.
- Maintaining consistent performance and initiating developmental discussions.
- Adhering to company policies and code of conduct.
- Abiding by all health and safety regulations applicable on the mine.
- Participating effectively as a team member and promoting teamwork.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) while on mine/training centre.
- Embodying the values of safety, integrity, respect, responsibility, innovation, and collaboration.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must be residents of specific host communities and have passed the required 4 x N3 trade-specific subjects. A medical fitness assessment including a Heat Tolerance Screening test is mandatory.
Available Learnerships
- Boilermaker / Plater Learnership: Requires Grade 12 with Maths and Science, and full N3 qualifications.
- Fitter Learnership: Requires Grade 12 with Maths and Science, and full N3 qualifications.
- Millwright Learnership: Requires Grade 12 with Maths and Science, and full N3 qualifications. Additional requirements for Mechanical trades or Industrial Electronics.
- Electrician Learnership: Requires Grade 12 with Maths and Science, and full N3 qualifications.
The programme offers practical work-based training and external technical training to enable learners to qualify as artisans.
