Programme Overview
AFGRI Equipment is seeking motivated and results‑driven candidates for the Apprenticeship Programme 2026/2027 as Tractor or Earthmoving Apprentices. This three-year in‑service training leads to a qualification as a Tractor Mechanic or Earthmoving Mechanic.
Probation Period
- The first 6 months serve as a probation period.
- Both parties can assess suitability for a long‑term relationship.
- Either party may withdraw without consequences during this period.
Training Structure
Upon successful completion of the probation period, apprentices sign a contract with AFGRI and begin formal training, which includes:
- Practical Training Institute attendance.
- Distance learning registration for relevant subjects.
- Product training from suppliers or AFGRI specialists.
- Internal training hosted by AFGRI specialists.
Training Authorities
AFGRI supports training through:
- AgriSETA (Agriculture Sector Education and Training Authority)
- MerSETA (Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services SETA)
Duties of the Apprentice
- Training to become a Tractor Mechanic or Earthmoving Mechanic
- Repair and maintenance of equipment
- Stock control
- Customer service
- General workplace duties
Minimum Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication skills
- Administrative skills
- Computer literacy
- Grade 12 with English and Mathematics or Technical Mathematics
- Subjects like Physical Science, Engineering Graphics & Design, Diesel Trade Theory, and Motor Trade Theory are advantageous but not compulsory.
