Overview
The Data Analyst II position at Capitec Bank is designed to unlock value from data by making it accessible, meaningful, and actionable across the organisation. Unlike conventional data analyst roles, this position requires direct stakeholder engagement, business requirement gathering, solution prototyping, and the ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations for non-technical audiences.
The successful candidate will perform complex data analysis and statistical modelling on high-volume datasets, identify trends and patterns, and contribute to optimising operations and improving business performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Engage stakeholders directly to gather requirements, understand business needs, and prototype initial solutions
- Perform complex data analysis and statistical modelling on high-volume datasets
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver data-driven insights
- Communicate and present findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders
- Contribute to data modelling and gain exposure to engineering concepts
- Use AI tools, including Copilot and Claude, as active partners in analysis
Minimum Experience Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following experience criteria:
- Honours degree in an analytics, STEM, or related field, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience, OR
- Bachelor degree in an analytics, STEM, or related field, plus at least 8 years of relevant experience, OR
- Equivalent experience of 8 years of relevant experience and/or relevant certifications
Additional minimum experience requirements include:
- Proven experience in data analysis at high-volume scale
- Track record of leading data analysis projects and driving business impact through data insights
- Advanced use of SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver insights
- Experience presenting findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Analytical, Data, Technical, or related field
Ideal or Preferred Qualification: Honours Degree in Analytical, Data, Technical, or related field
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced SQL, including complex queries, performance optimisation, and working with large datasets
- Advanced Excel, including macros and VBA
- Data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
- Programming languages: Python or R
- Statistical methods and predictive analytics techniques and their application in data analysis
- Data modelling techniques to structure and organise data effectively
- Risk analysis methods and their application in financial services
