About the Opportunity
The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of projects within the Hollywoodbets Foundation's focus areas. This role ensures that every project is delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, while maintaining strict compliance with governance standards and MEL requirements. Beyond project delivery, the Portfolio Manager plays a critical role in identifying new opportunities, developing project proposals, securing funding, and building partnerships with funders, corporates, and development agencies.
Strategic leadership is at the heart of this position. The Portfolio Manager will work collaboratively with internal teams, including the Project Management Office (PMO), MEL, Operations, and Marketing, to co-design and implement projects. Provincial teams, consisting of Senior Project Coordinators, Project Coordinators, and Administrators, will rely on the Portfolio Manager's direction and coaching to deliver effectively. Community and partner engagement will be essential to refining and improving project outcomes.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Leadership and Oversight
- Oversee planning, implementation, and monitoring of multiple projects within the Foundation's focus areas
- Ensure all projects align with the Foundation's strategy and operating model
- Manage budgets, risks, resources, and reporting across the entire portfolio
- Apply governance stage-gates and RAPID decision-making protocols consistently across projects
Project Development and Funding
- Identify new opportunities within the portfolio focus area
- Develop project concept notes, budgets, and proposals for approval
- Build and maintain partnerships with funders, corporates, and development agencies
- Secure resources and co-funding to sustain and grow portfolio delivery
Collaborative Design and Implementation
- Work closely with PMO, MEL, Operations, and Marketing teams to co-design and deliver projects
- Ensure provincial teams, including Senior Project Coordinators, Coordinators, and Administrators, are effectively deployed
- Engage partners and communities in the design and refinement of projects to ensure relevance and impact
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
- Ensure MEL frameworks are integrated across the portfolio
- Oversee data collection and evidence-based reporting to track progress and outcomes
- Use findings to adapt projects and refine overall portfolio strategy for continuous improvement
Coaching and Leadership
- Provide direction and coaching to Senior Project Coordinators, Project Coordinators, and Administrators working on portfolio projects
- Mentor staff to build the next generation of project leaders within the Foundation
- Model the Foundation's values and promote a culture of disciplined delivery and excellence
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must possess an Honours degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management, Development Studies, Business, or a related field. A valid driver's license is required. Candidates should have 5 to 7 years of experience in programme or project management, with demonstrated end-to-end delivery responsibility. Experience managing budgets, risks, MEL inputs, and multi-stakeholder projects is essential.
While not mandatory, holding a PMP (Project Management Professional – PMI) or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification is preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop project proposals and secure funding will be considered a significant advantage.
