Hollywoodbets is seeking an experienced Product Owner (Tote) to join its team in Durban. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the development and performance of all Tote digital platforms, including the Tote Website, Tote App, Race Coast Website, and Sales Website. The successful candidate will drive product strategy, enhance user experience, ensure platform stability, and deliver new features that support customer growth, revenue generation, and operational efficiency.

Overview
The Product Owner (Tote) is responsible for end-to-end ownership, performance, and continuous improvement of all Tote digital platforms. This role focuses on driving product strategy, enhancing user experience, ensuring platform stability, and delivering new features that support customer growth, revenue generation, and operational efficiency. The position requires regular travel to engage with Race Coast KZN, Race Coast Western Cape, and other operational sites.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
- Own and drive the product strategy and roadmap for all Tote digital platforms, including the Tote Website, Tote App, Race Coast Website, and the Sales Website
- Drive the roadmap to enhance tote related platforms and create new platforms
- Define clear product objectives aligned with Hollywoodbets' commercial, customer engagement, and racing objectives
- Act as the primary product liaison for Race Coast KZN, Race Coast Western Cape, and Tote stakeholders, ensuring regional and operational requirements are accurately translated into product initiatives
- Identify emerging trends in racing, tote betting, digital wagering, and horse sales platforms to guide innovation and platform evolution
- Contribute to long-term thinking around new Tote bet types, regional expansion, cross-platform integrations, and future racing initiatives
- Evaluate opportunities to integrate Tote products more deeply into the broader Hollywoodbets ecosystem
Commercial & Financial Ownership
- Take ownership of product performance across platforms, monitoring key KPIs such as turnover, betting activity, margins, conversion rates, customer engagement, and retention
- Work closely with commercial, racing, and finance teams to develop pricing, engagement, and feature strategies that maximise revenue and participation
- Compile and present product performance, insights, and recommendations to senior management and executive stakeholders
Product Development & Delivery
- Translate business, racing, and operational requirements into clear BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications
- Collaborate closely with development, QA, data, and operations teams to deliver high-quality enhancements on time
- Lead product testing, UAT, and release sign-off, ensuring stability and accuracy across all Tote and Race Coast platforms before deployment to live environments
User Experience & Platform Optimisation
- Own the end-to-end user experience across betting, race information, and horse sales journeys
- Partner with UX/UI teams to ensure platforms are intuitive, efficient, and aligned with the Hollywoodbets brand
- Continuously optimise platform performance using analytics, customer feedback, and data insights, improving speed, usability, and engagement
- Take accountability for platform stability and performance, particularly during high-risk betting windows
- Ensure accurate and timely display of race cards, runners, results, dividends, and race-related content across all platforms
- Improve how race information is presented to help customers make informed betting decisions
- Drive clarity in messaging around scratches, rule changes, dividends, and settlement outcomes to reduce customer queries and complaints
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Race Coast KZN, Race Coast Western Cape, Tote operations, Sales teams, Marketing, and Customer Support
- Conduct regular competitor and market analysis across local and international tote, racing, and horse sales platforms
- Identify gaps, opportunities, and differentiators that strengthen Hollywoodbets' position in the racing and tote market
- Support internal teams (Customer Support, Retail, Racing Operations) with product knowledge, platform changes, and new feature rollouts
- Assist with the creation of support documentation, FAQs, and internal guides for Tote and Race Coast platforms
Regulatory, Compliance & Responsible Gambling Alignment
- Ensure all Tote platforms comply with gaming regulations, racing authority rules, and internal compliance standards
- Work closely with Compliance and Legal teams to implement regulatory changes, rule updates, and mandatory disclosures
- Ensure responsible gambling tools, messaging, and limits are clearly surfaced and correctly implemented across web and app platforms
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience in sportsbook, tote platform or gaming product management
- Related degree or diploma
- Proficiency with BI and analytical tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI)
- Product management and strategy capabilities
